Senator Tyron Whitten Slams Labor’s Decision to Lift US Beef Biosecurity Controls

Senator Tyron Whitten has condemned the Albanese Government for removing biosecurity import controls on US beef without consulting Australian farmers. Speaking in the Senate, he criticised the move as “shameful, negligent, and dangerous,” warning that the decision risks introducing exotic pests and diseases into Australia. With the beef industry contributing over $75 billion to the economy, Senator Whitten accused the Prime Minister of sacrificing Western Australian farmers to win favour with the United States.
